Things to Do in Tirana
Bunk'Art 2 sits under Tirana's old Ministry of Internal Affairs, just a couple of minutes' walk from Skanderbeg Square. It's smaller than its sibling on the outskirts (24 rooms instead of 106) and a lot more focused. The whole museum is about one thing: the Sigurimi, the Albanian secret police that watched and punished citizens for 45 years under Enver Hoxha. It opened in 2016. The exhibits cover wiretapping, prison camps, forced confessions, and the everyday machinery of fear, with original surveillance gear preserved where it was found. The pace is brisker than Bunk'Art 1, but the subject hits closer.
Exceptional · based on 5,500 Google reviews
Our weighted 10-point Holiday Score combines Google's overall rating, review volume, and sentiment around specific topics (service, food, atmosphere, accessibility). Sub-dimension scores weight category-specific signals — for restaurants we look at food and value mentions; for hotels at cleanliness and location; for beaches at water quality and facilities. Accessibility is weighted from verified wheelchair and mobility attributes.
Scores above 8.5 represent outstanding quality. 10.0 is reserved for editorial picks.
Why we like it
Bunk'Art 2 hits harder per minute than Bunk'Art 1. The subject is surveillance, denunciation, families pulled apart by neighbors informing on each other. It feels personal in a way grand Cold War history sometimes doesn't. The original wiretapping rooms are still set up with the equipment in place. You walk out understanding why a lot of Albanian families still don't fully trust the state. Plan on an hour, and plan to talk about it after.

Frequently asked
If you can only pick one, Bunk'Art 1 is bigger and covers more history. Bunk'Art 2 is more focused (purely on the secret police) and faster to visit. A lot of travelers do both. Bunk'Art 2 in the morning while in the city center, then Bunk'Art 1 in the afternoon paired with Mount Dajti.
On Rruga Abdi Toptani, directly across from Tirana City Hall. About a two-minute walk from Skanderbeg Square. The entrance is a concrete bunker dome that's easy to spot from the street.
Plan on 60 to 75 minutes if you read the panels. About 30 if you're skimming. It's a single floor of 24 rooms, much more compact than Bunk'Art 1.
The subject matter (secret police, prison camps, persecution) is heavy. Older teens and history-interested kids will get a lot from it. We wouldn't recommend it for young children.
Open every day from 09:30 to 18:30, longer hours than Bunk'Art 1. Mid-morning and late afternoon tend to be quietest. It's close enough to Skanderbeg Square that you can drop in without much planning.
